Provided by Scottish Welfare Fund
What is a Community Care Grant
It can cover costs if you:
- need help setting up a new home when you've been homeless, leaving care or prison
- need support to stay out of care and keep your home to a liveable standard
- care for someone who's been released from prison
- escaped domestic abuse and need help
- have a child whose health is at risk due to not having a settled home or essential items
Who can apply
You need to be on a low income. This does not mean you need to be on benefits. There's no figure that confirms whether you've a low income. If you're on one of the benefits below or your income is about the same as someone who is, it's more likely you can get a Community Care Grant:
- Income Support
- Pension Credit
- Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) - Income based
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) - Income based
- Universal Credit
How to apply
Contact your local council. If you have any issues applying, you can seek assistance from organisations like Social Work, your local Housing Association, Citizens Advice.
