VISIN provides an independent, expert clinical review of military service-related injuries, which remain a concern despite treatment, or conditions that have developed earlier than expected due to military service. In both instances, all local treatment options should have been exhausted in advance of referral to VISIN.
GPs, Practice Nurses, First Contact/ Primary Care/ Community Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists are able to refer UK Veteran patients to a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) review with experts from various clinical specialities, as well as those with experience of service-related injuries.
The MDT will provide recommendations for potential further treatment as well as details of MOD, local authority, public and third sector organisations that the veteran, referrer and GP could engage for tailored advice, guidance and support.
VISIN is for UK veterans only. It is not for the wider Armed Forces and Veterans community; for example, Veteran partners / children.
