The Health Improvement Team work across the length and breadth of Shetland to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals or communities. We do this by enabling and encouraging healthy choices as well as addressing underlying determinants of health such as poverty, housing, working conditions, educational opportunities and life/work skills. We work with a wide range of partners to influence policy, service provision and wider environmental factors that help support positive health outcomes for our population, especially those in greatest need.
How do we do this?
We provide training, a range of services, information and resources. We also work with partner organisations to lead and support projects, campaigns and activities aimed to support local communities.
We also provide specialist advice, information and initiatives on a range of topics including food and health, mental health, tobacco issues and workplace health.
