Support for adult adoptees, mothers, fathers, and other family members affected by historic forced adoption practices in Scotland between the 1950s and 1980s.
While nothing can undo the harm caused, support can help to reduce feelings of isolation, and contribute to healing, understanding, and stronger support networks.
We offer 2 different avenues of support:
Counselling provides a safe and confidential, one-to-one space to talk with trained counsellors with specific training around historic forced adoption and trauma. We offer up to 6 months of weekly sessions to people affected by Scottish historic forced adoption practices. Sessions can be in our premises in Edinburgh, online, or over the phone.
Peer Group Support can help people feel understood by others with similar lived experience, offering connection, shared understanding, and a sense of belonging. Peer support groups are available in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and online. We are in the process of restarting monthly groups.
